Attorneys Eric Bowden and Alycia Wesley, of Colombo & Colombo, P.C., presented a session titled, “Dealership Legalese and Current Cases”, at the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants’ (MICPA) Automotive Dealers conference on September 25, 2018 at the Laurel Manor in Livonia, Michigan. Presenting to automotive dealership Principals, CFOs and CPAs that work with dealership clients, Bowden and Wesley discussed current legal issues impacting dealers throughout the state of Michigan including tax legislation changes, risk management strategies and cyber threats faced by the industry.

Eric Bowden’s practice covers an entire range of auto dealership legal support. He counsels dealerships on how laws impact dealership’s day-to-day operations which include: advertising, consumer litigation, government regulation, manufacturer-dealership relations and wage and hour law. Eric was part of the Colombo team that secured a favorable decision from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals which has paved the way for Fox Hills Chrysler Jeep, Village Jeep, Jim Marsh Chrysler Jeep, and Orrin Hayes Jeep to reopen after their sales and service agreements were terminated as part of Chrysler’s bankruptcy.

Alycia Wesley’s practice includes real estate, business transactions, estate planning, and probate and trust administration. An experienced and successful negotiator, Alycia is routinely called on by individuals and business owners to review and draft a full range of contracts for corporate and individual clients including, asset and real estate purchase agreements, land-contracts, shareholder and stock purchase agreements, non-competition agreements, non-solicitation agreements, security agreements, credit agreements and promissory notes, loan documents, and succession planning agreements for closely held and family businesses.
